La particolare attrazione di Remed per il Marocco si manifesta attraverso il suo profondo studio degli alfabeti e delle forme e figure arcaiche che vanno poi a collocarsi nel suo immaginario ed a fondersi con i lavori che l’artista riesce a creare. Lo scorso fine anno l’artista è stato invitato dalla David Bloch Gallery per una residenza d’artista, Remed ha avuto modo di passare diverso tempo a Marrakech, ben quaranta giorni per il grande interprete che ha avuto modo di approfondire la cultura “Berbere”, una di quelle più antiche e sapienti del Nord Africa, da questa riflessioni e prendendo spunto da figure ed alfabeti, si è sviluppato l’allestimento di “EPYPHISE” l’esibizione che ha presto possesso degli spazi della marocchina.

Per lo show Remed abbraccia ad ampie mani tutto il suo lavoro esaltando con medium differenti, a noi sono particolarmente piaciuti i lavori realizzati con lo studio dell’antico alfabeto, con interessanti forme arcaiche unite alle tonalità che stanno investendo i lavori di Remed nell’ultimo periodo.
Dopo il salto finalmente un bel recap con le immagini all’interno dello show e di alcune opere nel dettaglio, infine vi lasciamo ad alcune riflessioni dell’artista circa la sua esperienza ed il suo soggiorno in Africa.

I’ve been knowing Marrakech for more than 15 years now… As some may know, It influence my path in many ways. Because of discovering other point of views, because I learn there that time is an ally rather than an enemy, and because it’s one of the most interesting place of Art considering the geometry has being used for centuries to develop an amazing abstract figuration language, which obviously influence me a lot either it was consciously or not.

All what I did there was directly binded to my relationship with Marrakech. With the understanding and interpretation of its code. Inside the ocean of informations I received, one I most love is called “Hamsa”, which means 5. It is know as the hand of Fatima, the daughter of the prohet. A symbol of protection and harmonious vibration. Sometimes there is an eye on it. You can find it in both muslim and jewish culture. And what I like from this symbol is that eventhough the symmetry is used to alter figuration, it actually look like a hand. And sometimes there s an eye on it. At the edge of abstraction and figuration, it remain universal, timeless. And i think it can convey a certain vibe in any eye staring at it.
